© 2019 Scions of the 17th Airborne

This website, and the Scions organization, is dedicated to all the veterans who served with the 17th Airborne Division at any time during its period of activation. The site is administered by the "Scions of the 17th Airborne Division, Inc.", an organization chartered by 17th veterans to honor the service of all its veterans and to insure that the story of the 17th Airborne is told. The website will be updated to add information and documents related to the 17th Airborne.

As part of our mission to honor the service of all veterans of the 17th and to educate others about the history and sacrifices made by the troopers who served in this division during WW II, we hold regional gatherings where troopers and their families can gather and share their recollections.

Each year there are two reunions: one in Lancaster, PA and one in Wheeling, WV.

In addition to the reunions, we gather annually at Arlington National Cemetery to place a wreath on the memorial to the 17th Airborne, and at the World War II memorial on the National Mall in Washington DC.  This occurs on the weekend nearest to Veteran's Day each year.

If you are interested in attending a reunion or the annual Arlington National Cemetery wreath laying, keep an eye on our "Thunder from Heaven" newsletter or send us an email!

On occasion, there are also trips to various locations in the United States and in Europe.

2015 Arlington Gathering

Each year, the Scions gather in Arlington, VA. for ceremonies at the memorial to the 17th at Arlington National Cemetery. This year's trip will take place November 9th and 10th.

After these ceremonies are over, the Scions travel over to the National World War II Memorial, and lay another wreath at the "Airborne Relief" at the Memorial.

For those who are interested, this year, we will again return to the U.S. National Archives in College Park, MD to scan documents related to the 17th. If you are
interested in participating in this visit, contact us at Scionsofthe17thairborne@gmail.com to sign up.
